Textured cards

Hi friends!
I've been playing in my craft room with brusho's, inks, paints etc and created dozen's of backgrounds.  Today's cards are for the Simon Says Monday Challenge Add Some Texture challenge.  I love texture on cards but wanted to try something different. I've tried this technique before - it's called hot glue embossing and it's such fun and I love the abstract look.

The cards are very simple as I didn't want to detract from the focal image.

I'm also entering Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge

Thanks for stopping by and have a good week.

Get Krafty

I love working with kraft and the challenge at Mod Squad this week is Get Krafty.  Here is my take on the challenge:

I heat and dry embossed my background on kraft cardstock and the image is a stamp from Kitchen Sink Stamps - Father's Pocket Watch.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good week and enjoy every moment.

Bon Voyage

This card was inspired by Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Nautical with an emphasis on mixed media or an artsy style project.  To create the background I applied Gesso to watercolor paper with a foam applicator for a bit of texture and then added Brusho's.  After heat embossing my boat image I added Brusho's to texture paste and then a touch of puff paint for the waves.  I also applied Gesso to the circle frame and then colored with Distress Inks.

Here is a close up of the waves....

Joy

I wasn't entirely happy with my first Christmas card so I made a second.... any excuse to play :)

I used Distress Inks and heat embossing and then removed the embossing (with an iron) to create a smooth finish.

I used Gina K Stamps for this card and Spellbinders Wonky die.

Many many thanks

Another card for Essential by Ellen / Winnie & Walter Challenge.  This time the theme is 'Sentimental'.  This would also have been suitable for the 'Background Building' or 'Transparent' Challenges but I felt the emphasis was on the sentiment.

The background is a digi which I colored - which is good therapy :) -  with Spectrum Noir markers and added a layer of silver vellum under the frame.  I die cut the 'many thanks' twice and cut the thanks off the first die cut.
Simple. Easy.

Supplies:
Winnie and Walter Geometric Digi
Essentials by Ellen Die
Lawn Fawn Rectangle Die

Of course I'll add this to Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge

Painted Flower

This card is for Essentials By Ellen and Winnie & Walter - Floral Challenge.  I wanted to practice some of the techniques from Creative Chemistry so I used Distress Paint (marbling technique) for the flower.

I also heat embossed the flower with Stardust EP - here is a close up.

Also entering Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes.

Nautical Birthday

Hello friends,

I hope you're all having a great long week-end.  I have a few cards to share with you.  The first was made with a few challenges in mind:

For the background I used corrugated board, colored with gesso and black distress paint.  The next layer was created with Distress Inks, a bit of stamping, some washi and a touch of texture with a stencil and texture paste (which I colored once dry).  I added a die cut for some extra interest.  The fun part was inking some gauze. I heat embossed the anchor to create a rusty look and added some twine.  Loved making this!

Supplies used:
Gina K -  stamps (Birthday Blessings sentiment and Bold Flowers background stamp),  vintage cut from Ship to Shore stamptv kit
Memory Box Honeycomb corner die

For the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Tic Tac Toe Challenge (stamp, cardboard, washi, blue, stencil)

Thanks for stopping by .....

Lovely Day

I made this card for Paper Smooches layers challenge.  I used the Blossoming Buds stamp set, colored with Spectrum Noir markers and added a few doodles to add to the whimsical feel of the card.   For the background I used my die cut from the Square Die as a stencil to create another layer and some interest.
