Awesome Friend

Hello!

I have a couple of cards and a tag to share today and I'll keep this very brief. First up is a card I made for Cas-ual Friday's Color Challenge.

I used Cas-ual Fridays Mon Ami stamp set and Friend die.

I'm also linking this to Simon Says Work It Wednesday and SSS Anything Goes.

My next card was inspired by Essentials By Ellen Pin Sights Challenge:-

I used Essentials by Ellen Mondo Hydrangea and Lovely Stamp sets, and colored with Zigs.
I'm linking this to SSS Anything Goes and Simon Says Work It Wednesday.

Be Different

And lastly I have a fun tag which I created for Rubber Dance Theme Challenge

For the background I used acrylic paints and an old credit card. Really fun to make!  Stamped the flowers and some quick coloring with Distress Inks... added a title and some twine and that's it.  Super quick and easy.

That's it from me today.  Have a great week!

It's your Birthday!

Hi!

I'm back again!  Here are a few more cards I made over the week-end but didn't get the opportunity to post.

.

A simple card with one of my favorite techniques, Emboss Resist, and one of my favorite colors, Cracked Pistachio.  The stamps are Waffle Flower (Lacy Flower) and Essentials By Ellen (sentiment).  I'm linking this to Essentials by Ellen Mix It Up Challenge and WOW! April Challenge.

While I had my stamps out I made two more cards.

A fun and cheerful one..... just because ☺

No words

Here is my 3rd card ......

When I first saw this stamp (Waffle Flower Lacy Stamp) I knew that I had to do a bit of doodling!  Such fun!  The sentiment is Essentials by Ellen .... with some doodles of course!  Added a pop of color - not sure why it always seems to be red... ☺

Chalkboard Technique

A very quick post to share a card I made over the week-end.  The challenge at Mod Squad this week is to use the Chalkboard Technique.  My card is a very simple and easy one.  The stamp set is Cas-ual Friday's and the background stamp is Hero Arts.  Added a pop of red for a bit of color.

I'm also playing along at Rubberdance.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Scrapbook Layout

Hello and Happy Easter!

My first project today is a scrapbook layout.  It's been a while since I did any scrapping and when I saw the Sketch Challenge at Altenew I was inspired to haul out my supplies.

March 2017 Altenew Layout Sketch Challenge. By @ahorton, Halftone Circles Stamp Set - @Altenew

I painted broad uneven stripes for the background on my 12 x 12 paper.  The frame for the photo is chipboard and I first applied gesso, stamped with versamark, heat embossed with Satin Pearl EP and applied ink with my blending tool.

Here is a close-up of the embossed resist frame:

The stamps and dies are Altenew Peony Bouqet, Label Love, Calligraphy Alpha and Happy die.
I finished off with a few other embellishments and of course some splatters!

I'm also linking this to WOW! April Challenge

I had fun with this and hope to do more layouts soon.

Thanks for looking!

Just Believe

I used yupo paper and alcohol inks to create the rainbow for this card.
The stamp and die cuts are Cas-ual Fridays Casual Vine and Dream then Do.

I'm playing along the following challenges:
Cas-ual Fridays Rainbows
ATCAS

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hip Hop Birthday

The challenge over at Simon Says Monday Challenge  is HIP HOP and here is my interpretation of the challenge.....

I embossed the background and then got really inky with watercolors and distress paints.  For the die cut, I used the edge of my ink pad (Distress Oxide) and swiped over the cardstock to create streaks rather than a solid blue color.
The stamps are Crafter's Companion Street Wise and Urban Graffiti.
The die is SSS Painted Happy Birthday.

This was a fun card to make and great for a teenage boy.

Thanks again for visiting and have a wonderful week!

Magic of Three Canvas

Hello!

I'm thrilled and so honored to be a guest over at A Vintage Journey today to share my Magic of Three mixed media canvas.

"Using three of something adds more interest and power whether it is a conversation, art or numbers".
I have included a variety of elements in three's in my project.

  • I started off by adding Color Bloom spray to my canvas.  I always feel less intimidated when I have some color on a blank canvas
  • Selected 12 x 12 paper for the background and tore pieces as needed
  • Distressed the edges of the paper and once I had decided on the placement, adhered to my canvas with matte gel
  • Applied dry wall tape and modelling paste with a stencil (in three area's although one is now covered by the doily)
  • Added a small amount of gesso with a dry brush to soften the colors
  • Arranged flowers and embellishments and once happy with the arrangement I removed them to finish off the background (this is after a number of days I might add, as I always change my mind☺)
  • Added more color (with sprays) and splatters (with gesso)
  • Finished off the edges
  • Glued lace to edges and center
  • Stamped and sprayed doily, primed die cuts (frames, leaves and ladder) with gesso and when dry, colored with sprays and inks
  • Finished off title (distressed and inked edges) and adhered in place
  • Added texture to corrugated board and stitched pp to board
  • Adhered cheesecloth and wire thread behind focal image
  • Glued flowers and embellishments in place
  • Added pearls, lace flowers and snowflake paste

Here are a few close-ups.....

And the edges ......
